What to Expect
Before
I will send you intake paperwork to fill out before your first session. This includes your health history and other information so I can know a bit more about you. I encourage you to have a sense of some goals for our working together. Drink lots of water beginning the day before, please show up on time or early. The waiting area will have books and relevant materials available for reading, or to take home if you are in the series.
If you show up for session one of the series you are going to first draw how you feel in your body. After that you will have the treatment space to yourself so you can dress down to shorts or underwear on the bottom, I will give you a tube top to wear if applicable. If you choose we will do before photos, front back and sides for your file.
During
A lot of the work is done side lying, on body cushions. That is how we will begin a lot of the sessions. I want you to be able to settle in and be comfortable, while staying present and bringing awareness to where the work is happening. On the treatment table I only use 100% cotton or other natural fiber sheets for those sensitive to synthetic fibers. I use organic fair trade cocoa butter mixed with a tiny bit of beeswax so I can have traction on your skin without pulling your hair or pinching you. I may use a spritz of rosewater at the end with your permission. If you need me to make any accommodations for you I am happy to do so, please let me know beforehand. Sessions run 90 minutes to 2 hours. After the work on the table we may do some work on a bench or movement education related to the session.
After
After the session try to give yourself some time, to walk, move and rest if needed. Drink water, eat nourishing food. If you’re feeling a lot write it down. If issues or a lot of discomfort come up between sessions you feel could be related to the work, please reach out to me via email. If your are in the midst of the series sometimes we may need to get you in sooner for the next session to stabilize things. This is not common but can happen, and I’ll make it a priority to get you in as soon as possible.
